The Didgeridoo is an Australian instrument, used by
the aborigines for tribal ceremony, meditation and
ritual. Originally, it was built out of eucalyptus wood
of various dimensions that had been internally dug
out by local termites.
The sound is created by vibrations from the lips that
create sound waves, called harmonics, with very low
frequencies. Through the circular breathing
technique the sound is repeated without interruption,
invoking a state of natural meditation in the player.
The Didgeridoo can be crafted in agave wood or bamboo, both suitable to recreate the same frequencies. The workshop includes theory and practice on how to build and maintain the instrument, how to create global rhythms and learning circular breathing technique.
Each lesson includes a warm-up with diaphragmatic breathing exercises. Those who do not have an instrument can purchase one at the workshop or build it personally with my help, using a bamboo cane. The number of hours of lessons and the length of the workshop are to be determined based on skill.
